Scott Konopasek - Board Member
Mr. Konopasek currently lives in the Richmond, Virginia, area and was the principal election administrator in six counties in California, Washington, Utah, and Virginia from 1995-2022. He retired in January 2021 after eight years in Contra Costa County, CA, and after a successful 2020 Presidential election. Very shortly afterward, Scott served as the General Registrar and Director of Elections for Fairfax County, VA, during the 2021 statewide gubernatorial election. He currently consults on election issues with several groups, vendors, and jurisdictions and is frequently quoted on security issues in local and national media.
Konopasek has served on task forces and working groups at the state and national levels throughout his career. He was a member of the original Election Center Task Force on Election Reform and worked closely with House and Senate staff in the crafting and passage of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). He has earned state and national certifications, awards, and recognition for innovation, project management, and leadership.
Konopasek has degrees in French Literature and International Relations from Brigham Young University and an MA in Political Science from the University of Utah. He later pursued doctoral studies in Public Administration at Utah. Scott served for 14 years as a US Army Military Intelligence Officer with service in several overseas theaters, including Desert Storm, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
